Health camp arranged at Kamshet Rajsthani Taanda, Kamshet

Four cases of Malaria were admitted in Pediatrics ward of MIMER Medical College. That prompted us to organize health camp and conduct epidemiological investigation of Malaria at Rajsthani Taanda, Kamshet on 23rd June 2010 with the help of PHC Kamshet. Dr Sameer Mhatre, Lecturer Pediatrics, Dr Sandeep Lecturer PSM, 2 interns, Mrs. Smita Lab technician, Mrs.Pai MSW, and nurse of RHTC Kanhe attended camp on behalf of MIMER Medical College, Talegaon. Dr.Sabne Medical officer, Kamshet PHC, Mr.Thombare Health assistant, MPW participated on behalf of PHC.

30 Patients suffering from various ailments were examined.

1 patient was suffering from fever.

27 Peripheral smears were collected for surveillance.

Free drugs were distributed.

One known case of TB was referred to PHC for Non DOTS regimen.

4 cases of scabies were seen.5 cases of splenomegaly with anaemia were identified.

10 cases of URTI, 5 cases of otitis media and 3 cases of candidasis, 1 child of failure to thrive Were diagnosed.

Health education session was arranged for women, Adolescents and others in groups. Epidemiological investigation revealed that temporary huts raised in open ground, no source of water in vicinity, indiscriminate open defecation and gross ignorance were some of the reasons of ill health. The activity was organized under the guidance of Dr Daga Professor & Head Department of Pediatrics and Dr B. Patnaik Professor & Head Department of PSM.
